The Switzerland Marathon light is a half-marathon initiated by former Swiss marathon runner Viktor Röthlin. Since 2014, it has taken place on the first Sunday in September. The start and finish of the 21.1 km race around Lake Sarnen is in Sarnen, capital of the canton of Obwalden.
In addition to the half-marathon, there is also a 10 km run, „Viktor Röthlin’s Class Duel“ for school classes (700 to 1100 metres), a 4 km Fun Run since 2017 and a mini run over 400 metres for pre-school children since 2018.
