On the 90th birthday of Ingeborg Gross

On December 12, 2021, Ingeborg Gross would have turned 90. She lost the battle against her severe illness in her 87th year, but her impressive life’s work and forward-looking succession planning ensured a heritage for future generations, which will be preserved and implemented by the Ingeborg Gross Foundation. Mrs. Ingeborg Gross was a strong entrepreneurial personality.

She had no commercial education. But she had a flair for business – and for people.

She entrusted the preservation and realization of her will to her foundation, as well as to its managing director for many years. And thus laid the foundation for a secure future of the Schill+Seilacher Group, for the benefit of those who work for the company as well as for the benefit of the general public. Just as she wanted.

Zum 90. Geburtstag von Ingeborg Gross

Am 12. Dezember 2021 wäre Ingeborg Gross 90 Jahre alt geworden.

Special Olympics Switzerland

Special Olympics is the largest sports movement for people with a intellectual and developmental disability.
Mission

Special Olympics is committed to ensuring that people with a intellectual and developmental disability develop mentally and physically in a sustainable way through sport. In this way we promote self-esteem, fitness, independence and the courage to dare to try something new. Our events enable shared experiences with other athletes, family members and society.

Athletes Oath

„Let me win. But if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt.“

Core competencies

Special Olympics promotes sports for people with handicaps and changes society by making the following things possible.

  • Support sports organisations in establishing sports and exercise facilities for people with disabilities and integrate them socially into the clubs
  • Enable organizers of mass sports events to allow people with disabilities to participate in their events
  • To organise competitions in 19 sports that give everyone the opportunity to participate and succeed.
  • accompany delegations to international competitions and thus provide them with unique moments of success

Values

  • SPORTSMANSHIP WITH JOY We believe in the transformative power of sports. We embrace the purity of sports at all levels as we witness incredible personal athletic triumphs that shatter stereotypes.
  • ATHLETE LEADERSHIP: We empower athletes to be contributing and respected members of Special Olympics and society. We support athlete-‐leaders on and off the playing field.
  • UNITY: We are united in our commitment to inclusion, respect and dignity. We build communities of acceptance: loving families, inspired employees, coaches, volunteers and fans. We are one Movement, across every community and every country.
  • BRAVERY: We live our athlete oath: “Let me win. But if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt.”
  • PERSEVERANCE: We are capable, tenacious and resilient. We don’t give up on ourselves or each other.

Ethics Charter

The anchoring of Olympic values and a sustainable development of sport are very important for Special Olympics. Swiss Olympic has drawn up nine principles for this purpose in an Ethics Charter, which are also followed by Special Olympics.

Stiftung Schweizer Sporthilfe

Stiftung Schweizer Sporthilfe supports Swiss athletes on their way to the top of the world rankings. Particularly in the young age group and in niche sports, where media presence, large sponsors and high prize money are lacking, Sporthilfe helps performance-oriented sports talents and their families to overcome the financial challenge.

The Stiftung Schweizer Sporthilfe is a non-subsidised, non-profit organisation. Together with Swiss Olympic and the Bundesamt für Sport, it is one of the most important sports organisations in Switzerland.

Since its foundation in 1970, it has supported around 17,500 athletes with more than 125 million Swiss francs. The funds are generated through fundraising, among others by foundations and partner companies as well as by the Sport-Toto-Gesellschaft and the Swiss lottery companies Swisslos and Loterie Romande.

From 2004 to 2011, the foundation concentrated on the targeted promotion of performance-oriented young talent. In 2012, it has taken over the entire individual promotion in Swiss sport, from young talent to the elite. Each year, the foundation supports more than 850 performance-oriented athletes from over 50 sports with almost CHF 5 million in the form of sponsorships, sponsorships and awards. As many of them as possible should reach international top positions.

Switzerland Marathon light Obwalden

The Switzerland Marathon light is a half-marathon initiated by former Swiss marathon runner Viktor Röthlin. Since 2014, it has taken place on the first Sunday in September. The start and finish of the 21.1 km race around Lake Sarnen is in Sarnen, capital of the canton of Obwalden.

In addition to the half-marathon, there is also a 10 km run, „Viktor Röthlin’s Class Duel“ for school classes (700 to 1100 metres), a 4 km Fun Run since 2017 and a mini run over 400 metres for pre-school children since 2018.
