Stiftung Schweizer Sporthilfe supports Swiss athletes on their way to the top of the world rankings. Particularly in the young age group and in niche sports, where media presence, large sponsors and high prize money are lacking, Sporthilfe helps performance-oriented sports talents and their families to overcome the financial challenge.
The Stiftung Schweizer Sporthilfe is a non-subsidised, non-profit organisation. Together with Swiss Olympic and the Bundesamt für Sport, it is one of the most important sports organisations in Switzerland.
Since its foundation in 1970, it has supported around 17,500 athletes with more than 125 million Swiss francs. The funds are generated through fundraising, among others by foundations and partner companies as well as by the Sport-Toto-Gesellschaft and the Swiss lottery companies Swisslos and Loterie Romande.
From 2004 to 2011, the foundation concentrated on the targeted promotion of performance-oriented young talent. In 2012, it has taken over the entire individual promotion in Swiss sport, from young talent to the elite. Each year, the foundation supports more than 850 performance-oriented athletes from over 50 sports with almost CHF 5 million in the form of sponsorships, sponsorships and awards. As many of them as possible should reach international top positions.
